THE MODERN WORLD OF ROBOTICS

The branch of technology that deals with the design, construction, operation, and application of robots, as well as computer systems for their control, sensory feedback, and information processing is robotics.

robot is a machine especially one programmable by a computer capable of carrying out a complex series of actions automatically. Robots can be guided by an external control device or the control may be embedded within. Robots may be constructed on the lines of the human form(humanoid bots), but most robots are machines designed to perform different types of tasks.

Robots can be autonomous or semi-autonomous and range from humanoids.

Some robots of this century are:

Vyommitra:

Vyommitra is a female-looking spacefaring humanoid robot being developed by the Indian space research organization (ISRO) to function onboard the Gagayanyaan, a crewed orbital spacecraft. Vyommitra was first unveiled on 22 January 2020 at the Human Spaceflight and Exploration symposium in Bengaluru.

It will accompany Indian astronauts in space missions and will also be a part of uncrewed experimental Gaganyaan missions prior to the crewed spaceflight missions.

Abilities:

It is programmed to speak Hindi and English and perform multiple tasks. It can mimic human activity, recognize other humans, and respond to their queries. Technically, it can perform environment control and life support systems functions, handle switch panel operations, and give environmental air pressure change warnings

C-Astra:

It is an INDIAN Robot Launched by Invento Robotics in April this year, C-Astra is a smart LiDAR robot that helps in screening patients as well as disinfecting areas. C-Astra is a semi-automatic robot that is also being used to fight coronavirus. It used UVC light to disinfect buildings and thermal cameras to record the temperature of the body.

JIVAKA:

Patient Care Mobile Robot With intelligent patient monitoring with two-way communication for seamless patient care, Jivaka assists doctors and nurses by reducing direct interaction with patients. Jivaka can be deployed at hospitals and dispensaries to assist in gathering healthcare data.

 KP BOT:

The KP-Bot will be deployed to perform the duties of the front office of the police headquarters which means that it will receive visitors and direct them to different places as and when required. The DGP said."Women's empowerment and gender equality were kept in mind while deciding on the gender of the first robot. Also, the fact that most front office jobs are managed by women was considered,".Kerala Police Headquarters has become the first in the country to use a robot for police work.

Roadeo:

The traffic buddy was developed by students in the age group of 11-14, Parth Kulkarni, Shruti Pande, Rachit Jain, Aadi Kanchankar, Shourya Singh, and Vinayak Krishna of SP Robotics. The Roadeo was launched on January 15, 2019.

 ASIMO :

ASIMO (Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility) is a humanoid robot created by Honda in 2000. It is currently displayed in the Miraikan museum in Tokyo, Japan. On 8 July 2018, Honda posted the last update of Asimo through their official page stating that it would be ceasing all development and production of Asimo robots in order to focus on more practical applications using the technology developed through Asimo's lifespan. The name was chosen in honor of Isaac Asimov.

Abilities of ASIMO:
ASIMO has the ability to recognize moving objects, postures, gestures, its surrounding environment, sounds, and faces, which enables it to interact with humans. The robot can detect the movements of multiple objects by using visual information captured by two cameras' "eyes" in its head and also determine distance and direction. This feature allows ASIMO to follow or face a person when approached. The robot interprets voice commands and human gestures, enabling it to recognize when a handshake is offered or when a person waves or points, and then respond accordingly. ASIMO's ability to distinguish between voices and other sounds allows it to identify its companions. ASIMO is able to respond to its name and recognizes sounds associated with a falling object or collision. This allows the robot to face a person when spoken to or look towards a sound. ASIMO responds to questions by nodding or providing a verbal answer in different languages and can recognize approximately 10 different faces and address them by name.

Sophia

Sophia is a social humanoid robot developed by Hong Kong-based company Hanson robotics. Sophia was activated on February 14, 2016,[2and made her first public appearance at the South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) in mid-March 2016 in Austin, Texas, United States.

Sophia has been covered by media around the globe and has participated in many high-profile interviews. In October 2017, Sophia became a Saudi Arabian citizen, the first robot to receive citizenship in any country. In November 2017, Sophia was named the United nation s Development program's first-ever Innovation Champion and is the first non-human to be given any United Nation title.

Do not try to be like others try to be better than others
